ERGONOMIS

Laptop ASUS A9RP termasuk dalam golongan yang lumayan tipis bila dibandingkan dengan laptop kelas 15 inch lainnya. Posisi tombol keyboard lumayan enak kok, bagi yang terbiasa dengan keyboard laptop DELL atau TOSHIBA mungkin perlu membiasakan diri sejenak.

Laptop ini menurutu paling enak saat kalo dibongkar, tinggal copot 3 baut dibelakang langsung semuanya terlihat. Simple. Termasuk saat melepas keyboard.

Dikenal sebagai produsen komputer yang menghasilkan produk cepat dan handal. Terkenal juga royal dalam memberikan bundle software. Salah satu produknya adalah laptop ASUS A9RP.

CHIPSET : ATI RS400/RC400/RC410

AMD (Advanced Micro Device) punya neh... dikenal oleh para mania komputer prosesornya cueepaat (tapi panas). Chipset ini cukup cepat dan mampu membuat iri teman2ku yang pake chipset Intel atau SIS karena kecepatan prosesnya.

PROCESSOR : Celeron M 440 @ 1866 MHz (Yonah)

Prosesor Celeron M440 1.86Ghz yang dibenamkan di laptop ini sudah cukup kencang kok, dan memang kencang. Pernah laptop ini saya adu dengan laptop Dell 14 inches (spec: Centrino Duo 1.6, RAM 1G) untuk meng-compile query ms access dari database nasional dengan ukuran sekitar 1.1Gb (1100mb) dan hasilnya adalah laptop A9RP ini mengolah data lebih cepat sekitar 5 sampai 6 menit, waktu yang dibutuhkan oleh Dell sekitar 12 menit-an. Kenapa begini? Menurutku ini karena pengaruh chipset ATI RS400/RC400/RC410 yang dibenamkan di laptop ini. A9RP Juga karena speed processor yang terus terpasang di 1.86Ghz, jarang di 1.1Ghz. Asus Termasuk laptop yang panas.

PHYSICAL MEMORY : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )

Bawaan laptop sebesar 512MB DDR2 PC5300, kemudian memory ini saya jual. Saya tambahkan memory merk VGEN DDR2 PC5300 dengan masing-masing keping sebesar 1Gb. Ketika terpasang dan laptop dinyalakan, memory ini ikutan panas. Don’t worry, be happy ajah...

Sekarang laptop ini menggunakan memory 3GB. Slot 1 sebesar 1GB PC5300 DDR2, slot 2 sebesar 2GB DDR2 PC6400. Kalau dipasang DDR2 PC6400 saja, laptop tidak mau hidup. Jadi, harus di-mix dengan DDR2 PC5300.

VIDEO CARD : ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M Series

Bagaimana dengan menjalankan game? Dari koleksi game 3D yang saya miliki semuanya lancar-lancar saja dan aman terkendali. Hal ini karena didukung oleh chip VGA ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M yang sudah cukup mumpuni walaupun menggunakan share memory sebesar 128MB dari total RAM. Bandingkan dengan yang memakai chip SIS (S3 Mirage 672 256 MB) poor deh... (try with game westward II frontrier).

Warna yang dihasilkan sangat bagus, apalagi ada asus splendid yang bisa mengubah mode setting gamma secara otomatis. Keren...

HARD DISK : Hitachi (IDE 100 GB)

Interface harddisk pada laptop ini masih menggunakan IDE (Paralel ATA). Sebenarnya bukan masalah interface PATA atau SATA, tetapi berhubung kedepan hdd akan dikuasai interface SATA maka mau tidak mau bersiap diri untuk pindah ke SATA. Cuman masalahnya adalah ketersediaan converter dari PATA ke SATA dengan ukuran sekecil mungkin. Saat laptop ini saya buka, masih ada ruang untuk misal ada converter PATA ke SATA itu.

DVD-ROM DRIVE : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D

DVD-RW yang dibenamkan di laptop ini bisa dibilang mengecewakan. Gimana tidak, lha wong kira-kira 6 bulan setelah pembelian DVD-RW nya mulai susah baca dan pilih-pilih CD. Menurut berita di internet, katanya perlu dilakukan upgrade firmware agar masalah tersebut bisa teratasi. Tetapi masalah yang muncul adalah tidak komptibelnya driver yang tersedia di internet. Solusi gampangnya adalah bersihkan optiknya dengan tissu lembut dan bersegera membeli eksternal dvd-rw.

MONITOR TYPE : LCD 15.1 inches

LCD nya memuaskan. Gambar yang dihasilkan tajam dan halus. Enak buat nonton TV di laptop lewat USB TV-Tuner.

Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RT8139 (A/B/C/810x/813x/C+) Fast Ethernet Adapter

Seperti kebanyakan produk realtek untuk LAN, bagus dan normal-normal saja.

WIRELESS : ASUS

Bisa diandalkan. Kekuatan sinyal yang diterima kalah sedikit dengan yang buatan Intel. Testing yang dilakukan dengan cara mengukur kekuatan sinyal pada wireless network status windows.

BATTERY:

Dibekali dengan ASUS LI-ION BATTERY PACK A32-Z94 dengan rating +11.1V 4400mAh, laptop ini mampu dioperasikan sekitar 75 menit atau 2 jam 15 menit. Pengalaman pemakaian standar, battery drop pada usia 2 tahun lebih 2 bulan. Saat blog ini ditulis, kemampuan battery masih bisa bertahan selama 30 menit. Battery kompatible nya bisa memakai dari Asus A32-F3 atau dari Axioo TVW.
